“I’ve been to Israel many times. I went for the first time for the Maccabiah games back in 2005 and then I’ve been back almost every year since. Then I lived in Israel, doing a masters degree at Tel Aviv University in Middle Eastern history. Having learned about Jewish roots and that we go back such a long way in Israel was such an eye opener to me. And to see this modern day, bustling country that so few people, particularly those outside the Jewish community, know about, it needs to have as many people as possible advocate on its behalf, from inside the community and outside the community. It’s incredible what they’ve done with what was at one point a desert.”
