“What is the impact of the past on our present generation and their future identity as Jews? This is the core question that shapes our school’s work with the community archives. When young students explore their history and become engaged with their past through stories, pictures and artifacts, they internalize the values and aspirations of the Jewish journey and become motivated to pass it from generation to generation, Me-Dor Le-Dor.
It is wonderful to see our students’ projects included in a special exhibit that tells the story of their families, for future generations to be inspired.”
Federation CJA’s funding helps ensure that our collective history in Montreal over the last 275 years is protected and cherished. The community archives have gathered over 120,000 items, including a vast collection of documents, recordings and photographs.
