“When you’re working out, if you’re struggling or not, there are all kinds of emotions that come out. You’re going to have judgments of yourself that are much stronger than you would if you’re doing your regular day-to-day thing. When you’re working out, these emotions sort of pour out — ‘I’m lacking’ or ‘I’m not doing my best’ or ‘I’m not where I should be.’ I think it’s important to have that connection because you’re literally pouring it out while you’re sweating during the ride. So, when you acknowledge that, when an instructor makes you acknowledge that, it makes it OK to go forward. I think from the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, you’re a different version of yourself.”
