“There’s an idea called beshert. It means ‘it’s meant to be’ and we deal with what’s meant to be in the best ways that we can.”
“Can you give me a personal example of that?”
“Just the way things happen. I did many things in my life: I drove a truck, I worked in hospitals, and I worked for a printing company. All this, I think, was necessary for me to reach the place that I am today.”
“How so?”
“It gave me a finer understanding for the way things are, to appreciate things and not take them for granted. You learn a lot from the real world, rather than the world of academia. It’s good that you have that basis of understanding, but it’s life itself that teaches you far greater things.”
